Hang Gliding

Hang gliding has been a very big part of my life for over 20 years. In that time I've accumulated about 1000 hours of airtime in a variety of gliders at sites all over the United States. I have a master rating from the United States Hang Gliding Association and have been active in our local club, most notably as the newsletter editor for 4 years. The focus of my flying is cross-country; trying to cover the maximum distance over ground in a flight. I've had a few flights in the 70-100 mile range in San Diego and well over 100 miles in other places. Most of my flying in San Diego is from the Laguna Mountain area and heading north toward Palm Springs. I have also competed in regional, national, and international competitions. I currently fly an Icaro Stratos rigid wing glider. This type glider flys like a hang glider but has a rigid structure and control surfaces, more like traditional aircraft.
